Position Description

This position is a Bargaining Unit position.

Under general supervision and consistent with the Credit Union’s mission, vision, guiding principles and brand statements, provides quality service to internal members and contributes to the success of EKC through the achievement of department service goals. Provides coverage to the Administration and Accounting departments on a rotational basis. Coverage provided will consist of performing key activities on each position of the two departments and will vary during peak workload periods and vacation coverage.

Schedule Description

Part-Time - 15 hrs. weekly (2 to 5 months for training which includes a variety of shifts which may include full-time hours depending on the knowledge & experience of the successful applicant)

It is imperative the successful applicant be a self-starter, able to learn quickly and capable of working in a multi-faceted, fast paced environment, adhering to deadlines.

**Note: The hours listed are the “usual” hours however the requirements of this job frequently dictate additional hours, up to full days, on short notice.

Regularly Scheduled Hours:

Monday – Friday: 11:00am – 2:00pm

Qualifications Required

Minimum Qualifications:

Secondary school diploma with a minimum of approximately 2886 hours (18 months) experience in a member or financial services position with EKC or another financial institution plus completion of:

  • CUIC 185 (Credit Union Products and Services)
  • TLC courses:
  • OR 1: Welcome to Credit Unions; OR2: The Credit Union Movement, OR3: The Credit Union Structure and OR4: Credit Union Business
  • RSP 01-14 (Registered Plan Courses)
  • EST 01-06 (Estate Courses)
  • Accounting 101 (equivalent to COTR 261)

In addition to formal education, candidates will be required to demonstrate:

  • Working knowledge of registered plans and applicable legislation
  • Working knowledge of estate administration procedures
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication skills and the ability to project a courteous, professional image
  • Success in responding to member enquiries and providing a high level of member service
  • A sound working knowledge of the current banking system
  • Personal computer literacy with demonstrated keyboarding skills proficiency in Microsoft Word or other word processing program and email package
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet program

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Completion of Accounting 102 (equivalent to COTR 262) within 9 months of accepting the position
  • Completion of CUIC 210 within 18 months of accepting the position

Successful applicants will also be required to upgrade skills on a yearly basis by taking related courses in accordance with the Course Checklist for this position.
